ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE (AAG)

Product name :  Ascorbyl Glucoside(AAG)
Other names :  Ascorbyl glucoside, i.e., ascorbic acid 2-glucoside (AA-2G)
Characteristics and Application :
Ascorbyl glucoside has a structure in which the C2-hydroxyl group of L-ascorbic acid is masked with glucose. Once selectively permeated through the skin, ascorbyl glucoside is broken down into L-ascorbic acid and glucose by the enzyme alpha-glucosidase. Because ascorbyl glucoside is broken down into L-ascorbic acid, it has the same functions as L-ascorbic acid: exhibiting high antioxidant activity, acting as a coenzyme for enzymes involved in collagen synthesis (namely prolyl and lysyl hydroxylase), and inhibiting the synthesis of melanin.
Its a new type of stable vitamin C derived compound. It is used in many cosmetic skin-lightening formulations and for the Department of Health announced one of the effective whitening ingredients.
Uses :
ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE has reported to be used in the following product types: facial moisturizer/treatment; other products with spf; facial cleanser; anti-aging; sunscreen spf 15 and above; foundation; moisturizer; lip balm; around-eye cream; exfoliant/scrub.
